Summer Holiday Outreach
School is out, and the kids are enjoying their summer vacation! The past two weeks have been filled with so much laughter, love, and Jesus! God's heart for these two weeks was Psalm 139. Through creativity, games, a hike, movie nights, and a talent show, the kiddos learned about the love Jesus has for each one of them—how His thoughts for them outnumber the grains of sand, how there is nowhere they can go where He is not, and how each of them is fearfully and wonderfully made.
We were in three communities throughout the two weeks, and each community had a few days filled with creativity and games. One activity we had the kiddos do was build a house using only straws and pipe cleaners. At first, the kids really struggled and tried to use the materials separately. As we checked in with the groups, they realized that the pipe cleaners had to go inside the straws in order to build a sturdy home. We used this visual to share with the kids that what they put in their hearts matters. When we have Jesus in our hearts, we have a firm foundation—but when we don't, we are empty and can't stand.

We also had the kids create an outfit using only the materials they were given (trash bags, pipe cleaners, paper, ribbon, magazines, brown paper bags, etc.). The kids went all out! They made beautiful dresses, skits, soccer jerseys, crowns, and so much more. The way God has woven each of us so uniquely was highlighted as each kiddo presented their outfit during the fashion show. Some kids gave us a catwalk, while others danced their way through. We were able to recognize and call out the ways God had woven creativity and workmanship into each of them, encouraging them to see how uniquely they were created.
At the end of each week, we hosted a talent show! The kids showcased their God-given talents in front of family, friends, and the community. We had dancers, artists, comedians, soccer players, singers, and even models! Celebrating each child's talent left us in awe of God's beautiful imagination—it truly has no bounds or limits. Many of the kids had believed the lie that there was nothing special about them, and these shows gave them the opportunity to see that God had already thought about the talents He would give them long before they were even born.
Watching these kids discover who God says they are has been a powerful reminder that His Word is alive and active. We are grateful to have witnessed Him moving in such beautiful and personal ways.
Will you please join us in praying for…
Psalm 139 to echo in their hearts long after summer ends,
The seeds planted to continue to grow,
The kids to know their identity in Christ so they may walk in confidence, believing that they are fearfully and wonderfully made,
against the lies of insecurity, comparison, and unworthiness, and that each child would learn to see themselves the way God sees them.
